Locate the fuel tank on the chainsaw. It is usually at the rear of the saw, near the handle. Remove the screws securing the fuel tank cover using a screwdriver. Carefully lift off the cover to expose the fuel tank and the existing fuel line. Inspect the old fuel line for any cracks, leaks, or blockages. Step 4. Unscrew the gas cap and set it aside in safe, clean place. Use the needle nose pliers to grab the fuel filter in the tank. Pull the fuel filter and fuel line out of the tank. Throw both of these away.
