Model 70 serial numbers pre 64
I have an old Winchester pre-64 model 70, or model 54. I'm wondering if there are any data bases that I can put the serial number into that would indicate what model it is, and the year of production. I'm also looking for parts. My rifle has a magnum bolt face. I am looking for another bolt with a standard bolt face (.308/30-06).Pre-war Model 70 safety lever in very good to excellent condition. An original Winchester part. Type-I-1 levers we're used on rifles with serial numbers 1 thru around 3600 (mostly 1936 rifles). Specifically, this lever is designed for the early safety sleeves which do not have a retaining pin for the safety lever. TypI have an early model 70 classic 270, Super Grade, serial # G18180, and a feather wt, 7mm-08, serial # G40001. I really like them both especially because of the old claw extractor, and controlled round feed as in the pre-64 model 70’s. If someone had a chart that shows the serial #/DOM for this series, that would be great also.
