Another solution for black screen startup. When I first installed Project Zomboid, I had a black screen show up and I waited a bit for it to load. I had to force close it thinking it may just be a fluke. It continued to do the same. I finally just let it go and I would have to say it took at least 20 mins or so to finally show the menu screen.When I click to maximize the app, it again minimizes itself. Steps I've taken to try and fix the issue: -open as Admin. -updated graphics card drivers. -updated windows. -restarted computer. -closed all screen overlay. -closed most apps not necessary. -verified game integrity on steam.maybe you graphic card's driver was updated and it fucked up your game. Try to rollback to an older version, if you actually had an update of course. Try going to the C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid folder and edit the options.ini file. In that file, edit the fullscreen=true line to fullscreen=false.

In case anyone was wondering, I was experiencing this with the most recent build as of 1-18-2022. I found that the best way to fix it was to take it out of full screen and go into windowed.
